Our project in Brazil goes beyond climate protection

By recycling refrigerators in an environmentally responsible way according to Swiss standards at our partner Indústria Fox’s facility, we not only reduce greenhouse gas emissions but also create positive social and economic opportunities. This commitment strengthens sustainable development and promotes responsible business practices.
 

Over 300 Indústria Fox employees benefit from targeted training and education programmes that improve their professional prospects. At the same time, through the project, we support the catadores, the informal waste collectors from Brazil’s poorest communities, by providing scholarships. Education opens up new opportunities for them and serves as a key to a better future.

Our climate protection project aims to prevent the release of more than 100,000 tonnes of CO₂ equivalents each year while also contributing to the recovery of valuable raw materials
 

Sustainability arises from the balanced interaction between the environment, the economy, and society — three dimensions that are inseparably linked. Our project brings these aspects together: it protects the environment, strengthens the local economy and creates social opportunities for the people on site. Through the proceeds from Fair Recycling’s CO₂ certificates, we not only promote climate protection but also actively contribute to sustainable development in Brazil.
 

With regard to the 17 goals set out in the United Nations’ 2030 Agenda (Figure 3), our project makes tangible contributions to the following in particular:

Goal 4: Quality education – knowledge as the foundation for a better future.
 

Goal 8: Decent work and economic growth – sustainable opportunities for the local population.
 

Goal 9: Industry, innovation and infrastructure – pioneering solutions for a circular economy.
 

Goal 12: Responsible consumption and production – using resources responsibly.
 

Goal 13: Climate action – an active contribution to protecting our planet.
 

We use the proceeds from Fair Recycling’s CO₂ certificates to invest not only in climate protection but also in sustainable development in Brazil.
