We eliminate harmful F-gases at the source
CO₂ certificates are a proven way to reduce your carbon footprint in the short term. But Fair Recycling’s climate protection project goes a decisive step further: it doesn’t just reduce emissions – it ensures the irreversible destruction of climate-damaging CFC and HFC gases.
Through this verifiable and irreversible elimination process, we make an especially effective contribution to climate protection. This makes our project one of the most impactful climate protection initiatives in terms of effort and results.
CO₂ emissions are one of the greatest challenges for global climate protection. Instead of focusing on the subsequent removal of CO₂ from the atmosphere (‘negative emissions’), Fair Recycling’s climate protection project relies on a sustainable and preventive solution: avoiding greenhouse gas emissions at the source.
This approach is significantly more cost-effective than negative emissions. Our rule of thumb: 20 times more environmental benefit for the same money!

Sustainable recycling for a climate-friendly future.
A central element of our commitment is the proper disposal of cooling appliances in emerging countries where no specific recycling infrastructure currently exists — for example, in the favelas of Brazil. To achieve this goal, the Fair Recycling Foundation, in cooperation with Indústria Fox, established a state-of-the-art recycling plant near São Paulo in 2010. This facility, which meets Swiss standards, enables the environmentally sound processing of old cooling appliances and thus actively contributes to reducing climate-damaging F-gases.
Due to continuous growth, Indústria Fox has reached the capacity limit at its previous site in Cabreúva, Brazil. Therefore, a new state-of-the-art factory is being built in Campinas, northwest of São Paulo, covering an area of 100,000 m². The facility includes a 38,000 m² production hall and will also operate e-waste recycling and remanufacturing in the future.
A particularly outstanding feature is the large photovoltaic system, which enables self-sufficient energy supply. In addition, the refrigerator recycling plant is being modernised to meet the highest technological standards. With this expansion, Indústria Fox is setting new benchmarks for efficient recycling and sustainability, securing the future of the project for further climate protection measures.
For the time being, the proven refrigerator recycling process will continue at the Cabreúva site.
