Securing knowledge transfer for the future through microlearning

Since 2023, the Fair Recycling Foundation has been actively involved in Brazil through the ‘iWrc’ (International Inclusive Waste Recycling Consortium) project, promoting education and training within the informal recycling sector. Through needs-based microlearning courses delivered via WhatsApp, participants’ skills are strengthened in a targeted way. This initiative not only enhances their professional capabilities but also makes a meaningful contribution to achieving the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

Following its sustained success, the iWrc project is now supported by the Swiss REPIC platform. REPIC promotes practice-oriented initiatives that leverage Swiss expertise to implement sustainable technologies and resource-efficient management in developing and emerging countries. Its approach focuses on project funding, knowledge dissemination, quality assurance and international collaboration.

This support ensures the long-term transfer of knowledge. The Fair Recycling Foundation contributes its expertise to the waste management courses within the iWrc programme, continuously supports the project and ensures its quality and ongoing development through regular reporting to REPIC.

Supported by the Swiss government agencies SECO, SDC, SFOE and FOEN, the REPIC platform supports innovative projects in the fields of renewable energy and resource efficiency through funding, networks and knowledge transfer. Its goal is to promote the adoption of sustainable technologies in developing and transition countries.
